		<description>I wonder whether there is some culture difference between NYC and DC.  DC projects have almost always impressed me with their professionalism. Then again, I speak a foreign language and we tend to have more skills in that area than the people who can fire us.  But I have never experienced any of the nastiness or pettiness that seems pervasive in Tom&#039;s world.

Is is a New York/DC work ethic thing - is the labor pool just so badly adjusted up there such that managers act like lunatics to keep the whiners down?  I get the idea that DC is a LOT nicer than New York.</description>
